A Message from O'Connor Senior Center
Many years ago, Cicero suggested that Romans take a stand against old age and atone for its faults by activity. He said that people must exercise the mind as they exercise the body to keep it supple and buoyant. Said Cicero, "old age is rich in blessings." His advice is as important today as it was for the elders of his day.
The O'Connor Senior Center is available to all senior adults in the Knoxville area for exercising the mind, body and spirit. For the past 25 years, it has been located at 611 Winona Street and has served thousands of individuals who visit the center to meet former friends, to make new ones, to learn a skill, to gather needed information and to have new and old fashioned fun. More than 100 volunteers, serving as teachers, health aides, and members of boards and committees, make certain that everyone who enters the doors of the Center has a pleasant and rewarding experience.
The center is truly a place for the Active Years! It's a place dedicated to creative aging; a place where all segments of the over 55 population meet; and a place where the well-elderly and frail alike are treated with dignity. Many folks echo the words of the on particiapant who said, "What would I ever do without the Center?"
It is our hope that you will come and enjoy some of the many activities here at O'Connor Senior Center.
