The htimage program has been installed on Newsites server and has been made readily available to you. There is no need to install an imagemapping program in your directory. Once you have selected an image and created a corresponding map file, you're ready to add the HTML code which pertains to the imagemap. Since the htimage program is written by CERN, your map file should follow CERN format as discussed earlier.
In order to test the imagemap, you must first upload the image and map file to your directory. The three files needed to make the image fully active will reside in the following directories:
/cgi-bin/htimage ...imagemap program (supplied by Newsite *)
/user_dir/image.map ...map file
/user_dir/image.gif ...image
* refers to the server's cgi-bin directory and not your local cgi-local directory.
If the image and/or map file resides in a subdirectory, this additional path information needs to be included in your HTML.
